NCBI Resources: Bibliography

Contains information about the NCBI databases to be used as a teaching tool.

The Bibliography section provides links to articles about these genes and their homologs.

Gene Sensor

Another way to find gene information in NCBI is using GeneSensor. Whenever you type something that looks like a gene name into PubMed, a box will appear at the top of the search results suggestions various links to gene information.

Links include:

  • Links to all studies that discuss this gene's function (GeneRIFs)
  • Link to the records in the gene database
  • Links to genetic tests for this gene

Related Articles in PubMed

Related articles in PubMed are divided into two categories:

  • Articles about this gene. Searches for links between this gene record and PubMed
  • Articles about this gene or homologs. Searches for links between this gene record and HomoloGene
  • Excludes references about protein protein interactios, which are in the Interactions Section

Click on the links at the bottom of this section to open a list of these references in PubMed.

Gene RIFs: Gene References into Functions

GeneRIFs (Gene References into functions) contain links to articles that contain information about the gene's function. These exclude information about protein/protein interactions, which are found in the Interactions section.

These links are hand curated by humans, including users like you! See this link to see how to add a link to GeneRIFs.
