Our resources have many features that will help you to find accurate answers to clinical questions quickly. This guide accompanies the Library's class "Answering Clinical Questions in Real Time."

Resources

Cochrane Library contains high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making. It includes reliable evidence from Cochrane and other systematic reviews, clinical trials, and more. Cochrane reviews bring you the combined results of the world’s best medical research studies, and are recognized as the gold standard in evidence-based health care. 

** Dynamed Search for a topic or browse more than 3000 topics.  Physician written summaries include evidence that is rated 1, 2 or 3 based on the quality of evidence available for a recommendation. Recommendations are graded A, B, or C based on the quality of the evidence available.

** FirstConsult found within MDConsult, is an evidence-based clinical information resource.  Recommendations for practice are graded A (high quality systematic reviews or RCTs), B (non-randomized trials and other types of experimental designs), or C (consensus or expert opinion) by trained editors. 

** Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database is an evidence-based source of information on the ingredients, interactions, effectiveness, and use of brand name natural products and substances.  Products are graded effective to ineffective using evidence based reviews of the literature.

Nursing Consult includes evidence based nursing monographs on a wide range of topics related to nursing care.

UpToDate offers evidence grading. 1 or 2 indicates the strength of the recommendation, A/B/C indicates the grade for the quality of the evidence used.
