Primarily designed for students, link to assistance & contacts for using UC Denver campus email. The UNIVERSITY domain password must be active & current to access other resources.

VPN instructions

What is VPN?      (Note: Download and use new VPN client in use on campus end of March 2015.)

  • VPN is a secure  tool that connects you to your campus computer or campus resources from
    off-campus.
    (See "Why would I need VPN?" below for uses of VPN.)
  • You do not need VPN to use online resources from the Health Sciences Library from
    off-campus; there is a once-per-session, web-based login for those resources.
    (Get that info here: https://hsl-ezproxy.ucdenver.edu/login)
  • In order to use VPN you must go to the Virtual Private Network page to log in, register to use VPN and get the downloadable client.
    (You will need your University domain, email username, and email password
    and you will need to read and agree to the OIT Terms of Use Policy.)
  • Click the VPN registration – you will need to do this (and download client software) each time you use a different computer.
  • Once you have registered, the VPN client will download for you to install and use.
  • Type your username preceded by university\
  • Then type your email password.

 

Remember: You will need to read and agree to the UC Denver OIT 
Appropriate Use Policy (AUP) on the registration page.

 

The OIT Virtual Private Network is for internal use by University of Colorado Denver faculty, staff, students, and sponsored users only. Unauthorized use is prohibited.

 

Please read the Appropriate Use Policy and Home Wireless Configuration Standards, and agree to abide by these standards prior to setting up VPN from a home network, before by clicking the Accept button at the bottom of the page.

 

 

If your home wireless or network configuration
doesn't meet the stated standards
do not agree and do not proceed.
 

Why do I need VPN?

If you have a PC that you use regularly on-campus and you have authorization to access it remotely, you can use a Remote Desktop program to connect to the PC after you have installed the UCD VPN client and have connected to the Virtual Private Network.

If you have programs on that PC you can use those programs while remotely connected to the PC.

You can work from home or a remote location and use the programs on the UCDenver PC to which you are connected.

You must comply with all security and privacy regulations
included in the 
Appropriate Use Policy and Home Wireless Configuration Standards
