PhD Resource Guide: Data repositories

Guide to relevant library resources for PhDs.

Choosing a repository

Choosing a data repository to share your data (or to use data) can be complicated. Some repositories are categorized by field of study (like cancer biology) or type of data (like NGS sequencing). Others are general purpose repositories. Let the Health Sciences Library help you navigate this new landscape.

Ask For Help

If you encounter any problems or have any questions, simply ask any library staff member for assistance. Visit Ask Us! for chat, email, or telephone access.

When getting ready to share research data, it is important to give it context. Metadata, or data about your data, will let other researchers know how your data were generated, processed, and much more so they can interpret your data set properly. Field-specific meta data standards already exist for many data types. Ask a librarian if you need help generating metadata for your dataset.
